It is no news that Romania is a country full of brainy geniuses who are responsible for many inventions that changed the world and made it a better place. What many people don’t know is that we also excel in health care as well. Medicine in Romania goes way back to the 1700s when babies received smallpox vaccination by getting dipped into a huge bowl of cow milk. Since the Red Cross Society was founded in 1876, Romania has been very active. Currently, it is the only humanitarian organization that has over 1,300 commissions, 47 subsidiaries and almost 2,000 under subsidiaries in the country.

When it comes to telemedicine, Romania is the number one country in Europe.

Insulin

Romanian medical professor Nicolae Constantin Paulescu discovered this effective breakthrough for diabetes in the year 1922. He is also the inventor of penicillin.

Anti aging cream

The anti aging cream called Gerovital, was discovered by Romanian biologist and physician, Ana Aslan. She also founded the National Institute of Gerontology and Geriatrics and has been honored with many awards.

Cervical cancer screening test

Aurel Babes paved the way for saving a lot of lives when he discovered the screening test for cervical cancer and his research was published in 1987.

Organization of the cell

George Emil Palade made discoveries on the structure and function of cell organization. He is a Nobel Laureate in medicine.

Over the years, healthcare in Romania has greatly advanced and Romanian doctors are regarded among the best in the world.
